Great schools and a great community are built together. Kearney School District is inviting parents/guardians, staff members, students, residents, business leaders and community partners to express interest in serving on one or both stakeholder committees connected to our Great Schools = Great Community initiative.
The Long Range Facilities Planning Committee will help review facility needs, consider priorities and provide input as KSD develops a responsible plan for maintaining and improving the buildings and spaces our students, staff and community use every day. This will be the more intensive of the two opportunities, with multiple meetings and/or activities expected this fall (all meetings will be scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. at the KSD central office unless noted otherwise):
- Sept. 3
- Sept. 28
- Oct. 12
- Oct. 19 (if needed)
- Nov. 2 (if needed)
The Portrait of a Graduate Committee will help KSD think about the skills, experiences and qualities we want every student to develop before graduation. This will be a lighter commitment, likely involving one two-hour meeting this winter.
KSD will use responses to build committees that include a broad mix of voices, experiences and perspectives from across the district. Completing this form does not obligate someone to serve, but it helps the district understand who is interested and available.
These committees are one important way to participate, but they will not be the only opportunity to learn more or share input. KSD will also host public engagement opportunities this fall as part of the Great Schools = Great Community initiative. More information about those events will be shared as dates, times and formats are finalized.
